The rabbit was hand sculpted in gesso, then delicately gilded with the warmth of 3 layers of pure W&B 24k gold leaf and the panel sides as well.

For contrast to his shine, the panel was painted with cream-colored milk paint to provide a matte velvety feel against the shimmering gold. 💛

This gift of the Lesser Arms of Czechoslovakia (1919 to 1960) with the Bohemian/Czech lion with two tails and a shield of the Coat of arms of Slovakia was created for a very special family who were decendants of this region for many generations. 💛

Ireland shield -hand sketched original illuminated design created with many layers of gesso patiently and delicately applied to a height of 5mm at the center of the triquetra.

It was then sculpted and tooled, left to dry and buffed with a horse hair cloth until smooth then gilded with 5 layers of W&B fine pure 24k gold on a sturdy gesso board base, painted with Winsor & Newton professional gouache and acrylics.

Coat of Arms for the Mavros family direct descendants of General Major, Count Dmitry Mavros of Russia 💛 * Winsor & Newton gouache, W&B 24k gold leaf and hand made 24k shell gold

This weekend as we celebrate the 4th of July here in the the USA, I wanted to create something to honour our beautiful Country in a positive way during this unusual time in our history.

This piece was inspired by a very old etched design from around the Civil War. It is rich with symbolism that is very fitting even today and I wanted to bring it to life with my gold and colours.

* The bald eagle looks proudly up to the skies toward the golden divine light as the starlight of 13 silver stars, one for each of the original colonies, twinkles in his blue ever watchful eyes. Above his head the original Motto of the United States is written in Latin: E Pluribus Unum ("out of many, one").

* On his neck he bears a patriotic shield hung on a golden chain, the shield is of red, white and blue and edged in gold. The cascading red roses over his right wing are for love and remembrance for all of those Americans who have come before us, while the fruitful olive branch for peace is protected under his left wing.

* The arrows laying on the ground are near his taloned grasp shows he is ever ready to defend our beautiful land and all of its people.

* The caduceus (traditionally used as a medical symbol but in ancient Greece it was more accurately a symbol of commerce and negotiation, balanced exchange, reciprocity and eloquence) is grasped by his other talons as he is perched upon center of the winged staff.

* Lastly the golden trumpet traditionally a symbol of power and military strength he carries behind him at the ready but peaceably beside the olive branch.

Rich with symbolism, this deep ocean hippocampus king proudly displays his pure 24k gold and red Omega shield. He wears pure golden bands of armour but is regally unbridled and free, (unlike other hippocampi who are able to be ensnared and have their limits, he can dive the farthest of them all!). The 11 bubbles surrounding him represent the 11m that Victor and Omega surpassed the previous world diving record thus giving this piece its name "King Omega the Victorious", whilst his crown represents the seven seas and he reigns over the five oceans. He also has beautiful ocean blue eyes like my beloved husband.

This piece is something I've been thinking of since last year when Omega Watches added another chapter to their iconic history by diving the farthest mankind has ever gone deep into the Mariana Trench! We are so very proud to be a part of the Omega family!

(Besides being the official watch of the OLYMPICS, James Bond and NASA, (the astronauts are currently wearing their Omegas on the NASA/Spacex/ISS mission), last year Omega and adventurer Victor Vescovo defied the crushing pressures of the deepest point on earth in the Mariana Trench to reach a new World Record depth of 10,925m (35,843ft), deeper than any human in history, while wearing an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep watch.)

This illumination was a very custom monogram request for a family and was gilded with pure palladium leaf. Palladium is more rare than platinum and a beautiful non tarnishing alternative to silver. There are accents of 24k gold leaf and 24k gold shell and the designs in each little vingette frame within the border represents a family member.
